Inshore Bliss: Casting Live bait and Chasing Fish in Marco Island's Scenic Waterways
We had a great day out on the water with Jeff Unruh, running an Inshore Fishing Trip with the Marco Fishing Company. April is a prime time for inshore fishing around Marco Island, as the warming waters bring the fish close to the shore, offering excellent opportunities to target a variety of species.
We met up at the Goodland Boat Park, got everything ready, and headed out into the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The weather was perfect - partly cloudy throughout the day, which kept things comfortable as we worked the inshore flats and channels. Although we didn't manage to land any big prizes, we still had a blast trying a variety of techniques, from casting lures to fishing live bait. The crew stayed busy, constantly adjusting our approach to find the active fish.
While the bite may have been a bit tough, the overall experience was fantastic. Jeff and his buddy were great company, and we shared lots of laughs and stories between casts. There's nothing quite like being out on the water, surrounded by the natural beauty of Marco Island. Even when the fishing is slow, it's just an incredible feeling to be able to spend the day pursuing our passion.
